About
us...
Guysguise was born in April, 2002. It was at
that time that founder James Ingrahausen was heavily
addicted to crack cocaine. No, wait, that was
the other James in the office. No, James
Ingrahausen was addicted to a new genre
of gaming called Alternate Reality Gaming. The
taste of the month in the ARG was the fantastic
LockJaw, a revolutionary masterpiece which included
many well-managed websites. one of these sites
was grrl-e-grrl,
which was actually a tool for people playing the
game. However, rather than take it for what it
was, Ingrahausen decided to mirror it. Thus, Guysguise
was born.
In the summer months, Guysguise partnered up
with another fledgling site, jadedmedia.
No one in the Guysguise organization would like
to talk about the dark period when jadedmedia
entered the scene, but let's just say it wasn't
pretty. Eventually, jadedmedia became the official
mirror for Guysguise, as there was doubt as to
the future of this site.
But even as the indecision loomed over the tiny
collection of writers and web designers, a ray
of light appeared and it was as though Jon Lovitz
himself had appeared in the flesh. Ingrahausen,
still an active editor-in-chief, decided take
back what was rightfully his, and the silliness
of having two sites for the same purpose was over.
And then, the good luck streak continued. a partnership
surfaced on November 18, 2002, and the ARGN
was reborn. Seven sites made clear that they were
going to stand together for the players and fans
of ARG. Seven sites made clear that they were
prepared to team up as collaborators, as writers,
as valedictorians of their high school classes,
and band together to provide a collaborative and
resourceful network for the people they knew and
loved. How guysguise ever got into this group
is still a mystery, but with that news, James
Ingrahausen knew what the site had to become --
a pay-for-access ARG community.
Now, of course Ingrahausen was off his rocker,
because that isn't what the people need.
So, Guysguise became the funny bone for the network,
the onion of the ARG community. In its current
configuration, it provides readers with a humorous
view at the world and at the genre, and will continue
to fulfill this need until laughing becomes against
the law (2004 in Canada, 2006 internationally).
Ingrahausen has since left his position as editor-in-chief.
Instead, he has chosen to take on the role of
media consultant, and will continue to watch from
above as Guysguise strives for greatness. With
that being said, let us introduce you to our team:
